BOOTCAMP AND BODY RIPPER INSTRUCTOR

RAMONA PETERS

Ramona Peters is a traveling boot camp instructor, zumba instructor, personal trainer, and nutrition advisor. She teaches Zumba and total body ripper fitness classes at Henderson State University.

She has been a Zumba instructor for eight years and a personal trainer for seven years. She travels to different towns in Arkansas and teaches boot camps there a few times a month.

Monday through Thursday she trains clients one on one in Hot Springs at 10 am, and then she teaches at Henderson State University 3-5pm. By night on Monday-Wednesday she travels to Prescott, Arkansas and then Hope, Arkansas to teach classes from 6:30-8:30pm.

She has been traveling between Hot Springs, Arkadelphia, Hope, and Prescott for six years. She also hosts Zumba parties and events for sponsors as a volunteer. Her job is very physically demanding and helps her stay healthy and active.

Ramona’s clients are a diverse group, her one on one client and her group classes include beginners, intermediates, and advanced fitness levels. She works with college students, middle aged, and seniors as well. No matter the age or fitness level her clients are at, she pushes them hard and shows them how capable they are of challenging themselves.

“I love this job, because of my own personal experience from being unhealthy once in my life. I am epileptic and I became seizure free when I began living a healthy lifestyle. I am blessed to be able to help people gain a healthy lifestyle and get them off medications that they had been on all their lives, I love making a difference.”

Playing upbeat music during her cardio intensive classes helps keep the energy going. “Students gain knowledge and diversity of exercise movements from my workouts.”

Ramona currently has Bachelors in Fitness and Management and is now pursuing a Masters in Sports Administration. Her son is a trained boxer who is very active and they enjoy maintaining a healthy active household.

An important tip for living a healthy lifestyle according to Ramona is to eat every three hours and from different food groups. She says to make sure you aren’t eating to get full but rather eat to be satisfied and for fuel.

Her favorite healthy snacks are peanuts, almonds, and fruit.

Holly has worked for over 12 years as a clinical dietitian as Baptist hospital has taught for 10 years at Henderson State University. She is able to combine book learning as a teacher with true experience working as an RD in a hospital.

Currently she spends her days both at Henderson teaching dietetics students and at the hospital working patients.

"I have really enjoyed working with individual patients and helping them learn how to eat in order to be healthier.

I love working one-on-one with patients and seeing the effect I might have on them and their health.

It is very meaningful when I see a patient or family member down the road I saw previously and they tell me how much it helped them to come see me.

I also love working with all of the disciplines at our hospital.

Since I work at a small hospital, I know every department and work closely with them and our physicians."

Hello, I am a senior dietetics major at OBU

I created this website for a mass communications class called online media. I decided to feature exercise and nutrition experts and leaders in our town to inspire OBU students to get involved and be more proactive about their health. I want to point students to fitness classes in town they may not have been aware of and to provide plenty of free easy to follow resources so they eat healthy at home, at the dorm, at a restaruant, or at the cafe. If your goal is maintain a healthy weight, lose weight, or gain muscle, you can find workouts here to help you acheive your goals. If you have any questions for me you can contact me below. You can also contact me at my personal website: click here
